About this Event
Random weave is a free-form technique for making baskets. We will use foraged natural materials such as bittersweet vines for the basic framework and cordage from daylily and iris leaves to fill in. Students can also include commercial rattan and recycled or found materials in their basket.
$20 additional material fee to be paid in cash at class.
About the instructor:
Making things out of fibers has been Kimberley Harding’s passion since she was a child. Until being introduced to basketry by Jackie Abrams and Lois Russell in 2015 and 2016, she primarily worked with textile materials. She joined the Northeast Basketmakers Guild in 2016 and has increased her basketry knowledge from the many wonderful teachers at the annual Gathering, as well as at other basketry events. Now as a sculptural artist she works with a wide variety of materials, though rooted in textile and basketry techniques. She has shown her work throughout the US and recently had a solo show at Maine Audubon in Falmouth. She resides in Portland.
