About this Event

Knife skills are the foundation of efficient, confident cooking, and this class gives you the hands-on practice needed to elevate your time in the kitchen. Under the guidance of Chef Barry Young, you will learn essential techniques that improve safety, speed, and consistency—skills every home cook and aspiring chef should master.

Participants will begin with a briefing on kitchen safety and proper knife handling before moving into guided practice. You will work directly with a chef’s knife to slice, dice, mince, and julienne a variety of vegetables, fruits, and herbs. The class will also introduce basic chicken butchery, giving you a chance to break down protein safely and correctly. Throughout the session, Chef Barry provides demonstrations, personalized feedback, and practical tips to help you build comfort and accuracy.

This is a fully hands-on experience. You will spend most of the class cutting, prepping, and learning through repetition. All ingredients you prepare may be taken home to use in your own cooking.
