Workshop will be over two weekends:The first date will be Saturday the morning of 25th July. On this
Saturday we will prepare pots by wrapping them in clay saggars or
aluminium foil, enclosing combustibles and oxides and various other
materials next to the pots. They will be left to dry until the next
session.
On the morning of Saturday the 8th August we will place the items in a
carefully constructed bonfire within a barrel and light it. The next
day, Sunday 9th August, we will come in and retrieve our pots, clean
them, and seal and wax them.
I can provide details of how to make your own suitable pots for those
with the facilities, (including Monday or Tuesday Potters), and a
limited number of pots will be available to purchase at £5 each.
Attendees can bring their own combustibles and oxides, but I will supply
some items as well (seaweed, plant food, pan scourers, etc.) and the
clay slip for the saggars, firewood, etc.
Cost will be the usual £40, to cover all three mornings. Open to all,
but, if we get enough interest, priority will be given to those who did
not attend the last session. Numbers are limited to around 10 people as
that's realistically all we can fit in the barrel.
