Barnabas is a listening prayer Learning Lab that will give you practical tips to stretch your listening muscles in a safe and fun environment to try out what you are learning. Barnabas meets on the first Tuesday of the month from 7pm until 9pm
GOHOP is pleased to be partnering with Eucharist Church who who are providing their wonderful Back Hall for us to be meeting in. Eucharist is located at 130 Victoria Ave. N. The Back Hall entrance is located to the side of the building on Evans St.
PARKING:
There is free street parking near Eucharist Church on Victoria Ave N, Wilson St, and East Ave N.
GOHOP PRAYER ROOM:
GOHOP is currently looking for a new prayer space to house all our different prayer activities. Until we have moved into our new location, our Barnabas nights will be taking pace at Eucharist Church. We are so grateful for the spirit of cooperation within the wider church community in Hamilton.
ABOUT BARNABAS:
Barnabas Listening Prayer is a diverse Christian community with people of many ages and from many different backgrounds, thriving since 2011 thanks to God’s great grace. We explore the important role of listening prayer in a vibrant relationship with God. Prayer is simply communicating with God. It involves listening to what is on God's heart in addition to expressing what is on our own.
We create opportunities for people to learn, practice and grow in their ability to hear and notice God in their daily lives.
Together we explore the many ways God communicates with us, as well as biblical methods of understanding and applying what we have heard.
Evenings generally include a brief biblical overview of the evening’s particular focus, free and open discussions, times for listening and exercises to increase our sensitivity to God.
The name Barnabas was borrowed from the travelling companion of the Apostle Paul. It means son of encouragement. Like Barnabas in the bible, we earnestly desire to encourage the church.
Proverbs 3:6,7 Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; He’s the only one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume you know it all.
