十六歲那年，他整日與歌劇和古典樂為伍。那時他手裡握著小號，進入交響樂團是他的夢想。但，迎接他的是一連串漫長且穩定的挫敗感。
二十一歲，他買了一把一千塊的吉他，那是一塊能彈出搖滾樂廉價的木頭。二十四歲，他決定要成為Joe Pass。二十六歲前往阿姆斯特丹，向那些箇中高手學習技藝，並開始書寫自己的音樂。
在這條路上走了很多年後，從2015的《R.E.M MOODS》、2017《動物感傷》、2019《離峰時刻》、與2021《你聽過Beige嗎》，他當然沒成為Joe Pass，但也有些肯定，有時候也是快樂的。現在住在台北，彈傳統到自由的爵士樂，或寫寫管弦樂、室內樂，有時也做點電子舞曲，2025年秋季末，發表了《Live Without Irony》。那是一個排除了虛偽才能發出的聲音。
Ying-Da Chen is a guitarist and composer from Taiwan.
The facts are simple. He was born in 1982. At sixteen, he spent his hours with opera and classical music. He had a trumpet and a plan to play in a symphony. It didn't work out. He hit a long, steady string of failure instead. He moved on. At twenty-one, he bought a thirty-dollar guitar. It was a cheap piece of wood, but it played rock and roll. At twenty-four, he decided he wanted to be Joe Pass. He went to Amsterdam at twenty-six, learned the craft from the men who knew it best, and started writing his own stories.
He's been at it for years. In 2015, he put out R.E.M MOODS, a record of fantasies and dreams. Then came Animal Triste in 2017, all chamber music and precision. In 2019, it was Off-Peak Hours—a high-energy road record with enough drive to keep you moving fast. By 2021, he turned inward with Do You Know Beige, a trio record that mapped out the images in his head.
The work didn't go unnoticed. There were Golden Indie Music Awards—some won, many nominated. He took the trophies and kept moving.
Sometimes he stands outside with a cigarette and looks at the sky. He knows he isn't Joe Pass. He's not even close. But he's okay with that. He's a happy man. He lives in Taipei now. He plays the tradition and he plays it free. He writes for orchestras, chamber groups, and he makes electronic sounds. From avant-garde to progressive rock, he does the work. In 2025, he released Live Without Irony. It's the sound of a man who has stopped lying to himself. He just keeps on playing. It's the only thing to do.

跨領域敘事藝術家與聲音藝術家，聚焦於語言的聲響，和口傳文學的敘事學及其應用。以民間譚（folktale）單人講述表演為核心，定期舉辦民間譚表演，亦擔任編劇工作與敘事學講師。自幼受說書、鋼琴與聲樂訓練，除持續參與古典樂演出與籌劃外，也積極融合傳統講述技巧、聲樂與擴延口頭技術，搭配打擊樂器，發展實驗聲響系列創作。同時結合黑板書寫，創作寫繪聲音詩
系列「䚻」，多次受邀至歐亞多國演出。長年致力於表演藝術與自由即興的教育推廣，自 2020 年起擔任衛武營國家藝術文化中心教學藝術家迄今。
近年的藝術計畫，以「狀聲－擬態詞」為核心。其中「狀聲詞的家屋」於2024 年獲選 C-LAB CREATORS支持，2026進一步於倫敦、巴黎和首爾進行展演。2025 啟動「狀聲詞聲音詩」表演計畫，分別於南韓、新加坡、馬來西亞和泰國巡迴演出外，也在柏林、倫敦以當地聲響發表新的聲音詩作。各式文章散見於紙本與線上刊物。曾出版複音詩集《肸蠁》（2023）、《音樂史暗處的金曲》（大塊，2024），《故事生成界》（好人，2025）。2026 於巴黎發表作曲作品《更聲之城》，並與瑞典音樂家 Girilal Baars 合作發行專輯《彭潺》（2026）。

Yang Yu-Chiao is an interdisciplinary narrative and sound artist whose work explores the sonic qualities of language and the narratology of oral literature. His practice centers on solo folktale performances, alongside his work as a scriptwriter and lecturer in narratology. Trained from a young age in storytelling, piano, and voice, he continues to engage in classical music while developing experimental sound works that combine traditional storytelling, extended vocal techniques, and percussion. He also creates a series of “written-drawn” sound poems, "Ballade" (䚻), incorporating blackboard writing into live performance. His works have been presented across Europe and Asia. Since 2020, he has served as a teaching artist at the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying).
His recent projects focus on onomatopoeia and ideophone. "The House of Onomatopoeia" was selected for Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab (C-LAB) CREATORS support program in 2024 and tour London, Paris, and Seoul in 2026. In 2025, he launched "OnomatoPoetry", touring South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, and developing new works in Berlin and London based on local soundscapes. His publications include the polyphony poetry collection Xi Xiang (肸蠁, 2023), "Golden pieces in the Dark Corners of Music History"(2024), and "The Oral Generative World" (2025).
In 2026, he premiered"Onomatogénéville in Paris and release the album "Peng Chant" with Swedish musician Girilal Baars.

Fangyi Liu lives in Kaohsiung and is an artist, improviser, composer, performer, organizer,He is concentrated in free improvisation, performances with acoustic objects, electronic sound and cassette tapes. He also works on field recording, is interesting in the sounds of daily life. These sounds are often combined with his voice in his performances and musical composition.
