Thinking about getting baptized? This is your sign.
Maybe you’ve been wrestling with the idea. Maybe you’ve waited for the “right” time. Maybe you’ve just needed a little nudge from The Holy Spirit (or a friendly Facebook post 😄). Whatever brought you here, this is it.
Our next scheduled Baptisms are September 20 and 21, 2025. We will have Baptisms on Saturday at 10am at Jaycee Beach and then in services on Sunday morning at 9am or 11am.
All-Church Picnic:
Following the beach baptisms on Saturday, we’re hosting an all-church family picnic. Everyone is invited! Come help us celebrate those who are being made new in Christ, then stick around to hang out and enjoy community together. It’s a bring-your-own-lunch kind of picnic, so pack something tasty and join us for a great time at the beach.

FAQs
WHY DOES PATHWAY CHURCH BAPTIZE PEOPLE?
Our church baptizes people with a three-fold purpose…
Identification – If you love someone you’re proud to be identified with them. Be it sports, music or politics, people want to be identified with people they admire. Baptism is a public declaration that you are identifying yourself with Jesus Christ.
Obedience – Jesus was baptized (Mark 1:9), and we want to follow His example. We also want to obey His command to go and baptize (Matthew 28:19).
Symbolism – When you are laid back into the water, it symbolizes Jesus’ death – a life willingly laid down for your sin; submersion is a symbol of His being buried – closure; but that wasn’t the end – he was raised from the dead, symbolized by your being lifted from the water (Colossians 2:12). While baptism is a visual depiction of the gospel of Christ, it is also a testimony, we have died to our old life, laid it down and now are raised to a new life in Christ (Romans 6:2-4). Baptism is a personal statement of faith, not a tradition. It doesn’t make you a believer; it shows that you already are one! Baptism does not “save” you, only your faith in Christ can do that. Baptism is like a wedding ring – it’s the outward symbol of the commitment you made in your heart. Jesus said in Matthew 10:32-33… If you don’t openly confess me before men; I will deny you before my father.
DOES HOW I’M BAPTIZED MATTER?
Some churches baptize by sprinkling water on the head, some completely immerse the person in water, does the Bible specify? Our English word “baptize” comes from the Greek word originally recorded in the Bible as “baptizo” which means “to immerse or submerge.” Immersion of believers is the only form of baptism in the New Testament. The account of Jesus’ baptism says that “Jesus came up out of the water” (Matthew 3:13-17). New Testament baptism required a body of water (Acts 8:36, 38); also note that they both went into the water. Additionally, as explained above, baptism by immersion is a clear testimony full of symbolism.
WHO SHOULD BE BAPTIZED?
The Bible clearly teaches baptism is reserved only for those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (Mark 16:15-16, Acts 2:41, Acts 18:8). For that reason we believe that an infant or anyone who does not understand God’s plan of salvation cannot make that kind of commitment. The Bible teaches that we should first believe and then be baptized. Therefore, if you have accepted Jesus’ payment on your behalf for your sin and are surrendering your life to Him – you should be baptized. If you have already been baptized but you didn’t understand the implications of the act – prayerfully consider being baptized again.
WHEN SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED?
It is usually not recommended to delay baptism; Biblical examples are to be baptized almost immediately following a person’s commitment to follow Christ.
