About this Event
This event is aimed at parents & caregivers who would like to know more about the dangers of crimes involving knives or bladed articles, or are concerned that their children may be at risk. Its purpose is to increase awareness of key issues around knife crime; empowering parents, caregivers and children to make informed and positive decisions to stay safe.
The Bath & North East Somerset Violence Reduction Partnership (VRP) is a multi-agency partnership that aims to prevent and reduce violence in the area. We work to understand and address the root causes of violence, to prevent further violent crimes from occurring in the future. We provide resources and support the work of professionals and community groups who help children at risk or involved in serious violence.
The event is supported by partner agencies such as Avon and Somerset Police, DHI Project 28, Youth Connect Southwest, NHS and more. On the day, you will have the opportunity to hear the real, lived experience of a parent who has been personally affected by knife crime or the UK lead on knife crime. There will also be a presentation by Street Doctors, followed by a panel discussion with the opportunity to ask questions.
Please note: Questions for the panel should be submitted prior to the event and emailed to [email protected].
We kindly ask that anyone attending the event respect people’s confidentiality by not naming children or families and to refrain from filming or taking photographs. We request that attendees respect our guest speakers and people's rights to talk freely. This is an over 16's event only.
The event will start at 6pm promptly, please plan to arrive at least 5 minutes earlier. Spaces are limited so please book at your earliest convenience. Light refreshments will be provided.
