Nutcracker auditions for dancers four years of age and older will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026 at our host studio, Barbara’s Conservatory of Dance. Dancers should arrive 15-20 minutes prior to audition time. There is no audition fee, but all dancers must complete the online registration forms prior to check in at balletmidwest.net/nutcracker-auditionsPlease wear appropriate dancewear and shoes (black leotard, clean tights and ballet shoes for females; white t-shirt, black tights and ballet shoes for males; adults auditioning for the party scene should wear comfortable clothing). With the exception of adults in the party scene, all dancers must currently be enrolled in ballet classes that meet at least once a week (at any studio).
For everyone cast in the Nutcracker, there will be a required informational meeting in mid-September, date and time to be announced prior to auditions.
AUDITION TIMES (please arrive 20-30 minutes early)
10:00-11:00 Female dancers ages 10-13, with less than 1 year on pointe
11:00-11:45 Male and Female dancers ages 4-6
11:45-12:45 Male and Female dancers ages 7-8
12:45-1:10 Adult Men and Women (no dance experience necessary)
1:30-3:00 Female dancers ages 12-15, with a minimum of one full year on pointe (including BMI Junior Company dancers not in one of the earlier audition times)
3:00-4:15 Female dancers ages 9-12, not on pointe
4:15-5:45 Female dancers ages 14 and older, with a minimum of three full years on pointe (including BMI Company dancers)
5:45-6:30 Male dancers ages 9 and older
