Ballet "The Little Prince"

This is a one of a kind ballet based on the story by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, "The Little Prince". It tells a simple story of wisdom through the eyes of a little child.

The story follows a little prince that travels around the universe and visits different planets. On each planet he discovers something new. The story addresses various themes such as friendship, love, loss, joy, care, beauty of simple things, etc.

A message from the artistic director of KKSD and ballet choreographer Karina Melikyan:

"The inspiration in creating this ballet was my son and his friend, a red-furred dog that reminded me of a little fox. For years, I kept thinking and dreaming of this ballet until one day I shared the idea with my friend, composer Alisa Sargsyan. Despite the pandemic, we were able to finish the project; the music was written by Alisa Sargsyan to the libretto created by Karina Melikyan and Shushanik Babayan and then recorded by the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra. Illustrations for the ballet were made by Garrick Antikajian. Once the music was composed, the process of choreographing and rehearsing began. It took us almost 4 years to reach our dream and create something new and memorable. I am thankful to everyone who took a part in creating and building this monument. in 2021 this ballet was shown to the public for the first time and now it will go on stage for the second time.
