The Ballenger Eminent Persons Lecture Series is proud to announce its upcoming event, “A Conversation With Dr. Bobby Mukkamala,” featuring the Flint physician currently serving as president of the American Medical Association (AMA). The lecture will take place on Tuesday, March 17, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the MCC Events Center on the campus of Mott Community College.
Dr. Mukkamala, a board-certified otolaryngologist and graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School, was elected president of the AMA in June 2025. While he represents physicians on a national stage, Dr. Mukkamala remains deeply rooted in his hometown of Flint, where he maintains a private practice and has been a leading voice in public health, particularly during the city’s lead water crisis.
“We are honored to welcome Dr. Mukkamala to the Ballenger Series,” said Mr. Bill Ballenger. “His journey from a local practitioner to the head of the nation’s largest physician organization is a testament to his dedication. This conversation offers a unique opportunity for our community to hear from a national leader who truly understands the heartbeat of Flint.”
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Mukkamala serves as a trustee of the C.S. Mott Foundation and is a past chair of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint. His efforts have been instrumental in securing funding and resources to mitigate the effects of lead exposure in local children and fostering the city’s ongoing revitalization.
