Workshops are back for 2026… and the first one for the year is Balboa!!!!Come and spend a Sunday afternoon session Shuffling with Sweetp! We’re running TWO workshops for Balboa dancers!!!
For the workshops we‘ve tried to put together an afternoon that would suit and benefit all Balboa dancers… however we‘ve also kept in mind that many of you are going to Jurassic Bal so starting with aspects within each topic that will also hopefully help you get ready for a fantastic Canberra weekend!
Workshop 1: Let’s get technical… technical… I wanna get technical (without being boring!)
Why technique… because when you get various technical aspects right it can make a huge impact…. to both you and your partner… and how enjoyable and in sync your dance together is.
There’s a quite a range of technical elements to Bal… everything from the footwork technique to clarity of signal to how to work successfully together to hearing what the music is saying.
Soooo much that can be covered… in this workshop we’ll start with just a few… initially ones that may also help those going to Jurassic Bal
Note: this is a huge topic so we’ll continue to build in future workshops… deep diving into various aspects.
Workshop 2: I want to look pretty… so pretty…
Don’t we all want that with our footwork? (Hopefully it’s not just me 😳!!)
This workshop is about you… just you… what styling and variations and fabulous footwork you can do to add seriously cool style to your dancing without disrupting your partner.
Date and times…
Sunday 1st March
Workshop 1: 1:30-2:55pm
Workshop 2: 3:05pm-4:30pm
Structure…
Each workshop will go for 1hr and 25mins including a break of 10 mins in the middle (roughly) Though workshop 1 may go for 1hr 15 mins straight with the 10 mins moved to the end of the workshop for social dancing between workshop 1 & 2. This will be decided by the teachers on the day.
There will be a 5-10 mins break/changeover between Workshop 1 and 2.
Venue…

11 Stanmore Rd, Enmore
It has free onsite parking, air conditioning and a lovely wooden dance floor.

Note: As per in our weekly classes we may not be able to guarantee exact same numbers of follows to leads… however, given it’s a prepaid workshop we will do out best to have numbers that are not too extreme in ratio. If it gets too out of balance we may need to put on hold bookings for either follows or leads until they are closer in number
Any questions please feel free to DM me here, or sms 0412049508, or email [email protected]
Look forward to seeing you there for our first Balboa workshops for 2026! Should be a fabulous afternoon!
