A slightly different workshop from our Grounded Flow series
This workshop is a little different from our monthly Grounded Flow sessions at the studio.
While Grounded Flow usually offers a full Ashtanga-based practice followed by meditation and pranayama, this event places more attention on exploring specific postures in detail.
In our previous workshop focused on Shoulderstand, several students were able to approach the posture in a completely new way — and some even practiced it comfortably for the first time after the two-hour session.
This time we will explore balance.
If balance poses sometimes feel tense, unstable, or frustrating, this workshop offers a supportive environment to understand them more clearly and approach them with greater ease.
Workshop Theme: Exploring Balance in Yoga
Balance is not only about standing on one leg.
In this workshop we will explore the principles of balancing in yoga, learning how stability, alignment and awareness work together to create ease in challenging postures.
The workshop will focus particularly on Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana, a posture that many practitioners find both fascinating and challenging. We will take time to break it down step by step and explore different ways of approaching it safely and intelligently.
From there, we will apply the same principles of balance to a variety of other postures — including standing, seated and other balancing shapes — helping the body understand balance from multiple perspectives.
What you can expect
• A deeper understanding of the principles of balance in yoga
• Step-by-step exploration of Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana
• Variations and accessible alternatives for different bodies
• Insight into how balance works across different types of postures
• Space to ask questions and explore your practice
We will also include pranayama and a short meditation to help integrate the practice and bring a sense of calm and clarity after the physical work.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is suitable for:
• yoga practitioners who would like to improve their balance and control
• students who find poses like Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana challenging
• yoga teachers interested in learning how to guide balance poses safely
Options and variations will be offered so that both newer practitioners and more experienced yogis can benefit from the session.
