A one-day intensive oratorio course and networking event for singers, concluding with a panel discussion featuring leading professionals.
About this Event

The Bailey Concert Singers' Symposium is a one-day intensive singing course in Marylebone, which focuses on the sacred and oratorio repertoire. Eight singers receive solo and ensemble coaching from four international soloists:

  • Joanne Lunn, soprano
  • Dame Sarah Connolly, mezzo soprano
  • Mark Padmore CBE, tenor
  • Roderick Williams OBE, baritone (BCSS artistic director)

The day will conclude with a panel discussion covering the ins-and-outs of performing this repertoire as a professional soloist. The exact timings of the day are:

  • 10am - 1pm: Solo coaching sessions (The Music Studios & The Crypt, St James' Spanish Place)
  • 130-3pm: Ensemble coaching sessions (The Crypt, St James' Spanish Place)
  • 3-430pm: Panel discussion on The Art of Oratorio Singing (The Crypt, St James' Spanish Place)

All the coaching sessions and the panel discussion are open to the public. Please book your spot for free and join us for a day of beautiful music, exceptional singing, first-class tuition, and an enlightening discussion.

The BCSS is the brainchild of baritone Roderick Williams OBE and is generously sponsored by Mrs Barbara Bailey, enabling all the singers to attend for free. This inaugural 2024 edition is organised and produced by the LONDON SINGERS' COLLECTIVE LTD, an arts-education company which curates educational resources for classical singers.
