It’s time to hit the dance floor and groove to the rhythms of Brazil as Jazz Tupiniquim take the stage at The Ellington, celebrating the 15th anniversary of the club!
Immerse yourself in an eclectic fusion of samba-jazz, funk, frevo, baião and the rich melodies of popular artists such as Djavan, Tom Jobim, Gilberto Gil and others, as this musical ensemble brings the heartbeat of Brazil to life.
Get ready to sway to the rhythm and experience this “Baile”.
Jazz Tupiniquim is a quartet of Brazilian instrumental music, which takes influence of several Brazilian rhythms, such as Choro, Samba, Bossa-Nova, as well as influences from artists such as Hermeto Pascoal, Pixinguinha, Tom Jobim, Djavan and others. They are joined tonight by guest vocalist, Thiago Santos.
The group brings a very upbeat night, with an interesting formation featuring:
Danilo da Paz – Piano Accordion
Emily Gelineau – Violin
Joshua de Silva – 7 String Guitar
Fábio Macarrão – Drum Kit
Thiago Santos – Guest Vocals
Jazz Tupiniquim return to The Ellington following their sold out debut performance in January this year!
On this very weekend in 2009, The Ellington Jazz Club opened it’s doors for the first time. Those doors have stayed open seven nights a week, for fifteen years since! We’re celebrating this milestone with a three day festival showcasing our diverse and vibrant Jazz scene, in honour of the late Graham Wood, the club’s co-founder. Please join us to celebrate the beating heart of Perth’s Jazz community, to commemorate the rich history of The Ellington Jazz Club and to toast to it’s bright future!
