Shilpa Kalā Nidhi, a Hyderabad-based handloom and handmade startup, is hosting a one-of-a-kind handblock printing workshop led by our master artisan, Anup Chhipa from Bagru, Rajasthan.
This immersive workshop offers a rare opportunity to experience traditional textile printing techniques firsthand and learn directly from a fifth-generation practitioner of the craft.
What you will experience
• An introduction to the history and process of Bagru handblock printing
• A live demonstration by Anup Chhipa
• A hands-on printing session using hand-carved wooden blocks and azo-free dyes
• An opportunity to try the traditional Dabu mud-resist technique with natural Indigo dye
• Explore the Shibori clamp and dye technique and make your own patterns
• Create and take home your own hand-printed textile

You will print your own design on a product of your choice and take your finished piece home at the end of the workshop.
About the Artisan
Anup Chhipa is a 5th-generation traditional handblock printing artisan from Bagru, Rajasthan, carrying forward a craft that has been practiced in his family for generations. Having grown up in a family workshop, he learned the techniques of hand block printing from an early age and continues to work with traditional printing methods through his block print house, Anaprinta Textiles. Deeply passionate about preserving this heritage craft, Anup conducts hands-on workshops for participants from across India and around the world.
Exhibition & Sale
The event will also feature an exhibition and sale of authentic Bagru handblock printed cotton textiles, including apparel, sarees, and other handcrafted pieces.
