explore your creative freedom by using appliqué as a way to refresh your clothing and help save them + scraps from landfills!
About this Event

the philosophy of "bad art" is to give yourself the permission to create without expectation or harsh boundaries, but instead with a playful and explorative hand in the presence of community.

in this particular branch of the series, we will be using appliqué to transform and upcycle old clothing that needs some more loving before we toss it to the thrift store, or worse -- the landfill (where TONS of clothing already lives; did you know that we have enough clothing to wardrobe the entirety of the globe for years with what is already in existence? and still, sweatshops are full of children who labor over thousands of pieces each day. every piece you save and article you transform MATTERS!)
you'll need to bring an article of clothing or two that you'd like to upcycle (shirts and crewnecks are easiest, but anything will do, including tote bags, pants, etc. - nothing is off limits!), but I'll take care of the rest of your materials!
once it's been designed, you will leave your items with me after we pick out thread colors, and I'll attach the appliqué for you to be delivered within a week of the class ending, pickup available at my studio (you may also take it home with you to attach by hand or on your own sewing machine if you'd like!)
