If you would enjoy getting fresh eggs, healthy compost, and hours of entertainment from your own backyard, come join us for the backyard chicken-keeping workshop! We will cover how to choose the right chicken breed for you, how to house your birds safely, chicken nutrition requirements, and how to care for new chicks as they mature into adult chickens. We want to give you the tools for success so you can enjoy the benefits of owning a healthy flock.
About the teacher:
Katherine Ladny Mitchell owns and operates Dellview Homestead, a small family homestead in Soddy Daisy which offers educational tours and classes on animal husbandry. She has bred, hatched, and raised chickens in both backyard and free range settings and currently has a beautiful flock of about twenty birds spanning ten breeds.
