He is the author of twenty-two books set in and around Washington, DC, and was a producer and Emmy-nominated writer for the acclaimed HBO dramatic series, .

In his latest book, Buster: A Dog, Pelecanos veers away from his typical crime genre, immersing readers in the challenging life and misadventures of a dog – narrated from Buster's unique perspective.

is the publisher of “Buster” with his company Akashic Books. He is also a DC native and plays bass guitar in Soulside, Girls Against Boys, and Fake Names. He's putting together an impromptu band to perform a short set for this event. The band includes Brendan Canty (Messthetics, Fugazi), Pete Stahl (Scream), and one more special guest TBA. Pelecanos is well known for weaving musical references into his prose, and the set list for the evening will be cover songs inspired by "Buster."
