In honor of Black History Month, this class will highlight the rich legacy of African Americans who have used yoga as a form of resistance, healing, and self-reflection. Notably, Rosa Parks began practicing yoga in the 1960s and continued throughout her life. In 1975, Ebony magazine published the article “Yoga, Something for Everyone,” further illuminating the practice within the Black community.This one-hour workshop will include a brief historical overview of how yoga has been embraced and utilized in Black communities, followed by a gentle asana practice and a concluding guided meditation.
