Get ready to level up your moves with Instructor Alex Lazo at the Bachata Footwork Challenge! This high-energy, intermediate workshop will focus on building confidence, musicality, and creativity on the dance floor. We will break down the fundamental rhythms and grooves found in bachata music through targeted footwork drills designed to help dancers better understand timing, texture, and flow. Participants will also have the option to take part in a fun, low-pressure showcase during the evening social to celebrate their progress and share what they've been working on with the dance community.
SCHEDULE:
- 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. – Bachata Footwork Challenge Workshop
- 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. – GR Salsa Social
6:00 - 7:00 p.m. – Bachata lesson with Instructor Alex Lazo
7:00 - 10:00 p.m. – Social & Performances by Mi Tumbao G.R., Lazo Dance, and the Bachata Footwork Showcase
PRICING:
- Workshop: $20 before June 14th or $25 at the door (includes entry into GR Salsa Social!)
- Social only: $15 – pay at the door
ABOUT ALEX LAZO:
Alex Lazo is a local West MI dance educator who operates Lazo Dance. Lazo Dance is a community-centered Afro-Latin dance organization focused on connection, cultural appreciation, and inclusive movement education. Through Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba, Kompa, and other Afro-diasporic dance styles, we create welcoming spaces where people of all backgrounds and experience levels can build confidence, community, and joy through dance.
