ABOUT INDHIRA
Indhira Castillo comes to us straight from the Dominican Republic and is extremely passionate about all dance and music. In 2003 she graduated from the National School of Performing Arts of the Dominican Republic as a Professional Contemporary Dancer. Since that time she has worked as a dance teacher, and choreographer and belonged to he various agencies and contemporary dance companies in the Dominican Republic and abroad.
She has years of teaching experience and prides herself on creating a dynamic and fun environment in both her classes and choreographies. Indhira Castillo has been dancing for over 28 years and heading into her 20th year of teaching. The Intensive classes in Contemporary gave Indhira the opportunity to assist in teaching at a young age, which quickly grew into a passion to teach as a career.
Indhira feels a strong connection with the traditional dances of her country and has also worked as a Bachata, Merengue, and Salsa dance instructor.
After moving to Canada in 2012 from the Dominican Republic, Indhira felt the need to keep sharing her love and passion for her culture, her music, and her country, which lead her to found in 2015 La Zona Latina Latin Dance Company, Halifax, NS.
In 2017 Indhira moved to Calgary and created Indhira Castillo Ladies Team as a way to keep promoting Dominican Bachata. In a very short period of time, she has created opportunities to dance and showcase her talent in various dance festivals in Alberta and abroad, she hopes to continue teaching and sharing her profound passion for dance with her students and wishes that anyone she works with finds a joy in dancing that lasts a lifetime!
