"Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, BWV 1050" by Johann Sebastian Bach
Bach’s "Keyboard Concerto in F minor" is known for its interplay between the keyboard and orchestra, and features a well-known slow middle movement that was also used in one of his cantatas.
Influenced by an Italian concerto, "Violin Concerto in E major" is a three-movement work (fast-slow-fast) for solo violin and strings known for its melodic and harmonic connections between movements.
"Brandenburg Concerto No. 5" is an innovative and energetic work showcasing the keyboard as a solo instrument alongside the flute and violin. One of six concertos that was dedicated to the Margrave of Brandenburg in 1721, its use of the keyboard transcends its typical accompanying role to feature virtuosic passages and a lengthy cadenza in the first movement.
Seating is available on a first-come first-served basis and free parking is available. Performances are recommended for ages 9 and older. Sunday at Central concerts are recorded and can be watched later at youtube.com/sundayatcentral.
