About this Event
Miscarriage affects around one in four pregnancies, yet access to care across the UK remains unequal. Specialist support is often only offered after three losses, leaving many families to navigate early pregnancy loss alone.
Join us during Baby Loss Awareness Week for an evening of creativity, reflection, and conversation as we mark a pivotal moment in miscarriage care and maternal health.
🕯️ 6:00pm – Candle Painting Workshop
Begin the evening with a creative candle-painting session led by artist Flic Blades. This gentle, reflective activity offers a way to honour your own experiences or show support for others.
🕯️ 7:00pm – Wave of Light
Together we will light our candles as part of Tommy’s Wave of Light, a national act of remembrance for babies lost during pregnancy or shortly after birth.
💬 7:30pm – Panel Discussion: Transforming Miscarriage Care
A chaired panel will bring together researchers, clinicians, families, and community leaders to spotlight the Graded Model of Care – a new approach developed by Tommy’s and the University of Birmingham to offer support from the very first miscarriage. With mental health care, early testing, and continuity of care in future pregnancies, this model has the potential to transform NHS care. We will also celebrate the ongoing partnership between the University of Birmingham, Tommy’s, and Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital, whose collaborative research is shaping maternal care nationally and beyond.
✨ Who is this event for?
Whether you come to honour your own experience, to support others, or to learn more about the future of miscarriage care, this is a space for creativity, remembrance, and quiet connection.
