About this Event
~AZADI Cabaret & Dance Party~
Born from the Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (Woman, Life, Freedom) movement in Iran, AZADI is part cabaret, part rave: all-SWANA magic ~~ A collaborative fundraiser (mutual aid to Lebanon, Sudan, and Gaza) between producer Amnesia Haze and MENA Film Festival which aims to build community and resistance through art. Allies welcome!
As a celebration of solidarity between interconnected struggles for liberation in Iran, Palestine, and the larger region, AZADI Cabaret & Dance Party is a showcase of all SWANA/MENA (Southwest Asian & North African/Middle Eastern & North African) performers and DJs. We will also have a fantastic lineup of local vendors and raffle prizes. Show starts at 9pm SHARP, come early to get the full experience!
Profits from the event will be donated in equal parts to the Sudan Solidarity Collective, Voices of the Unseen (Emergency Fund for Lebanon) and to local Palestinian-Canadian community member Nasser Najjar’s mutual aid campaign to support his family in Gaza. Find more information about these causes below.

This event is being held on the stolen, ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Skxwú7mesh-ulh, and Tsleil-Waututh nations. As we live and organise queer space as settlers on these lands, we have an obligation to continuously work to repair harms perpetrated upon Indigenous communities, presently and historically. The Birdhouse strives to work with and give back to Indigenous communities in all that we do. Partial proceeds from this event will be donated to the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre.
