About this Event
Food carries memory, lineage, and emotion, and sometimes, the weight of what went unsaid.
Join Asia Society Southern California's AWE (Asian Women Empowered) initiative for an intimate evening of conversation and dinner on Wednesday, April 15, where therapists Soo Jin Lee, LMFT, and Linda Yoon, LCSW, of the Yellow Chair Collective and co-authors of Where I Belong: Healing Trauma and Embracing Asian American Identity, will guide us through the deeper nourishment food offers: as ritual, inheritance, and a site of healing. We will explore how recipes passed down through generations hold cultural identity and familial ties, how fusion cuisine mirrors the complexity of multicultural belonging, and how the act of feeding ourselves and one another becomes a form of care and community. The discussion will be moderated by the award-winning journalist, Lisa Ling.
This is a space centered on AAPI women's voices, and the stories that have long gathered around the table.
The program will take place at Steep LA, a modern tea room and eatery in Los Angeles's Chinatown. Seats are limited to 30 on a first-come, first-served basis.
