About this Event

Feeling our way to awakening.

Join us for a somatic movement and sound bath event -- no prior experience needed, just an open mind to explore body-oriented healing. As this is a morning event, our practice has been intentionally curated to awaken and rejuvenate the mind and body.

We’ll begin with some gentle movement, vocalization, breathwork and listening practices that will guide us into a sound bath for deep listening, connecting with the vibrational sounds of singing bowls, chimes, and gongs.

Please dress comfortably, the space is well air conditioned. You’re encouraged to bring anything else you may need for the sound bath for maximum comfort (pillows, blankets, sheepskin, etc). We have a few soft surfaces to offer, and you can expect to be laying down for at least half an hour, in which time our body temp may lower which is why a layer or blanket would be recommended.

Facilitators

Erica Hart (they/she) - a mover and maker with a background in visual art, mindful movement, and embodiment practices. Ashley Klassen (she/her) is a designer, space holder, and trained opera singer, creating a soundscape with crystal bowls, gong, shruti, percussion, and voice.

Land Acknowledgement:

We acknowledge that the land on which we gather today is the traditional and unceded territory of the Kanien’kehá Nation. Tiohtiàke/Montreal has long been a gathering place for many First Nations, including the Haudenosaunee and the Anishinabeg. I recognize the Kanien’kehá as the custodians of these lands and waters and want to honour their connection to this territory.

As a settler, I am deeply committed to my ongoing education in social justice and to honour and respect the diverse histories and cultures of Indigenous peoples who have lived and continue to live on this land. I strive to move forward with gratitude, respect, and dedication to the path of reconciliation.

I also want to name that this ongoing education will be a lifelong journey for me as a settler, and I may make mistakes along the way. I encourage you to kindly let me know if something I say or do doesn’t sit right, because I am committed to growing and creating a space where people feel safe, heard, and understood.
