These days it's the small things in life I look forward to. Sleeping in until 9, reading a book while everyone else is asleep, taking a massive dump with the door open. Live music just doesn't get me the way it used to. But I couldn't be more excited for A.W to come play under the Tauranga harbour bridge on March 29th. Andrew Wilson, for those who don't know, is the front man, guitarist, songwriter genius of New Zealands greatest punk band of modern times, Die!Die!Die!. At least 2 of their albums, possibly 3, are in the top 20 alternative albums ever released here. While Lorde, Tiki Taane, Shihad are near household names here DDD should be along with them.
However, now that Andrew is also old, boring and just trying to sleep in, read and crap without someone pestering him - he has calmed down, leveled out, even matured. But in a seasoned way that has produced some of his best work as AW. Like a stripped back DDD, or a subtle nod to his past now he is just a Dad!Dad!Dad!.
Personally this isn't to be missed. Especially, as they are accompanied by my current favourite local band, False Waltons. Who if you haven't heard their garage punk fuzz album yet then do so.
Sunday March 29th 2026. 12pm. All ages. All welcome. Koha
