🎶 Avery Smith, Tenor
A native of Southwestern Virginia, Avery Smith is an emerging artist preparing for a career on the operatic stage. With a voice perfectly suited for Verdi’s repertoire, Avery brings a masterful touch to a variety of vocal genres, including oratorio and art song. His vocal training includes mentorship under Mark Owen Davis at Master’s Voice Studio and intensive work with Dolora Zajick’s Institute for Young Dramatic Voices.
Avery’s impressive accomplishments include performing in recital, creating the role of “Oswald” in the premiere opera scene Baroness by Scott Wheeler, and a debut with the Paramount Chamber Players performing Vaughan Williams' Songs of Travel. Avery holds a BA in music and theatre from Emory & Henry College and currently serves as Lead Naturalist at Hungry Mother State Park, blending his passion for music with cultural and natural education.
🎹 Steve Sensenig, Piano Accompanist
Steve Sensenig, an accomplished pianist and accompanist, has been delighting audiences with his extraordinary talent since childhood. With a Bachelor of Music in piano performance from Cairn University, Steve initially pursued a career as a concert pianist, showcasing his classical training and artistry.
Steve has built a dynamic career spanning multiple genres, excelling as a pianist, accompanist, and music director. His impressive credentials include serving as musical director for Barter Theatre, supervising productions for Norwegian Creative Studios, and collaborating with renowned artists like Celtic Woman’s Chloë Agnew and Metropolitan Opera tenor Aaron Blake.
A gifted arranger and orchestrator, Steve has worked with symphony orchestras, Broadway artists, and Hollywood composers, including contributing to the orchestration team of Christopher Young. He is also a film composer with a Graduate Diploma in Film and Game Scoring. When he’s not performing or creating, Steve lives in Bristol, TN, with his daughter, Dolly.
