About this Event
Autumnal Plant Identification Walk
Join us for a delightful Autumnal Plant Walk in the stunning Shirebrook Valley Nature Reserve - once the border between Mercia and Northumberland. Immerse yourself in the enchanting beauty of nature as we explore the stunning autumnal landscape together. Our expert guide will take you on a journey through the woodland, sharing fascinating insights about the diverse plants and trees that grow all around the locality (with some surprises!). Discover the secrets of our local woodlands, their unique characteristics, nuts and berries, how to identify them and the important role they play in our ecosystem. This in-person event promises to be a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature and learn something new. Don't miss out on this chance to embrace the magic of autumn and learn to see the woods through a different lens!
We will be taking a steady walk through the nature reserve and past ponds and meadows thoughtfully managed by the Friends of Shirebrook Valley Nature Reserve and Sheffield City Council. On the way we will be looking out for animal tracks and signs and noticing how to identify wildlife activity as we go as well as looking at its rich landscape history.
At the end of the walk, there will be an opportunity to look at various ID guides and reference books and have futher discussions back at the visitor centre.
This is a Pay As You Feel event. There is an option to donate here on eventbrite or a basket will be put out at the end of the walk and details for online paypal payment.
