About this Event
Celebrate the upcoming Autumnal Equinox at Fernbrook Nature Preserve. This is a morning to be intentional, seek peace and be receptive to nature. In that spirit, we will share an easy hike. We will allow the natural world to quiet our inner voices and restore balance. Rather than acquisitively naming every plant, we will listen to trees and ponder mushrooms.
-Location: Fernbrook Nature Preserve, Burnt Mill Road, Charlottesville, VA
-Maximum Number: 8 (registration required)
-Trail Difficulty: easy
-Free and open to the public!
-No bathroom facilities. No pets.
-Bring: water, comfortable shoes, hat, sunglasses, bug spray, and dress in layers.
This walk will be led by volunteer naturalist Dorothy Carney. In 2021 she became a Rivanna Master Naturalist. Year-round you will see her monitoring the trails at TNC’s Fernbrook Preserve. Follow her as "cyberdot" on iNaturalist to see her observations. Native plants are a special interest; habitat destruction and climate change are great concerns.
