About Donald Rabin, flute
Artist, Leader, and Adventurer Donald Rabin is a fourth year DMA/MA candidate under the instruction of Aralee Dorough. His playing can be heard on CBS Chicago, WGN Radio, and the soundtrack for NBC’s Documentary “SkyBlossom”. A former Houston Symphony Community-Embedded fellow and Boston Symphony Collegiate Ambassador, Rabin plays for patients in Texas Children’s Hospital and Purple Songs Can Fly through the Houston Symphony and Periwinkle Foundation. He is an Artist-In-Residence with ConTempo Arts Houston, Director of Flute-A-Thon, and has performed in the Texas Symphonic Ballet, New England Philharmonic, Cartago Band of Costa Rica, Missouri Symphony and other ensembles. Most recent engagements include being Staging Manager for the National Flute Association, Convergence Research Artist at the Blaffer Art Museum, and a Japanese Yamamoto Servant for the Houston Grand Opera’s Madama Butterfly production.
About Timothy Hester, piano
Native Houstonian Timothy Hester is Edythe Bates OldProfessor of Piano at the Moores School of Music where he also serves as Chair of the Keyboard Studies Division and Director of Keyboard Collaborative Arts. Mr. Hester has worked with internationally known vocalists and instrumentalists, taught Opera Studies at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music and served on the faculty of the Houston Grand Opera Studio. Mr. Hester graduated from The Juilliard School as a student of the renowned pedagogue Adele Marcus. He was previously a pupil of the late Professor Emeritus of the University of Houston, Albert Hirsh.
