Understanding the history of Autism is a valuable tool for professionals, educators, parents and anyone interested in gaining a deeper understanding of this complex and evolving diagnosis. It can provide a foundation for better supporting autistic individuals.
We’ll talk about how we can foster a more inclusive and understanding society, to ensure that individuals with autism have the opportunity to thrive and contribute their unique perspectives and talents to the world.

Presented by Linda Rankin, Ed D. (Cand), MA, BSW, RSW, ECE
In her 40+ years of experience, Linda has held a variety of senior management roles, community development responsibilities, postsecondary teaching positions and mental health clinical leadership positions.
Highlights of her career include her time with the North Bay Regional Health Centre, where she was the Coordinator responsible for decentralization of children’s psychiatric beds for the four Northeastern Ontario hospitals. While there, she also developed a set of Core Competencies for training staff working in the Mental Health and Addiction programs.
Currently, Linda is working with Magnetawan First Nation, developing a Staff Wellness Strategy.
