About this Event
The ADOS-2 Clinical Workshop is an introductory training designed to provide researchers and clinicians with previous expertise in autism spectrum disorders with the knowledge and skills needed to use the ADOS-2 in clinical settings. The ADOS-2 is a semi-structured, standardized assessment of social communication and behaviors relevant to ASD across age, developmental level, and language skills. The ADOS-2 can be used from toddlers to adults, from individuals with no speech to those who are verbally fluent. This training will cover ADOS-2 Modules 1-4. A 3-day training which includes the toddler module is available on our website.
This workshop will use a combination on lecture format and video demonstrations via zoom to introduce attendees to the basic principles of administration and scoring and provides an essential step toward competence in using the ADOS-2 in everyday clinical practice. Participants will gain a fundamental understanding of Modules 1-4 in addition to experience observing and scoring two assessments with the support of a certified trainer. Following this training, attendees will have the opportunity to register for training on the Toddler Module as well as follow-up booster trainings to further practice their skills.
This workshop is appropriate for researchers and clinicians with prior background in ASD and formal testing such as clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, pediatricians, speech-language pathologists, school psychologists, social workers, behavior analysts, occupational therapists, and other clinicians/researchers working in ASD assessment.
This training will be led by Dr. Lauren Thompson, a certified ADOS-2 trainer. Dr. Thompson has over 15 years of experience conducting clinical research with individuals with ASD. She completed her graduate work at Florida State University and a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. Her research interests include early social communication and developmental trajectories in young children with autism spectrum disorders.
Materials: Prior to attending training, you will need to have access to an ADOS-2 manual which is available through Western Psychological Services at www.wpspublish.com. Following the training, all participants will receive a certificate of completion.
