Join Purrsia for a morning filled with informative, interactive and engaging discussionas she approaches the one year anniversary of her late diagnosis of autism. There will be visual slides, some video content, some music at times and opportunities to have breaks.
Whether you are autistic or someone interested in learning more about autism, this event is for you! Black autistic and neurodivergent individuals are particularly encouraged to attend if you can.
Purrsia's intention for the session is to raise awareness and promote understanding about autism and how to make spaces more accessible for autistic people, particularly in the performing arts, cabaret and queer spaces.
Our Fetlesque workshops are supported using public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England. The workshops aim to be inclusive and accessible to all participants. Fidget/stim toys and ear plugs will be provided along with snacks and soft drinks. Masks also provided for those who would like to wear one. Please do not attend if you are unwell/have tested positive for COVID-19.
If you have specific access needs, a medical condition, or anything you’d like us to be aware of—please let us know in advance so we can try to accomodate. E-mail [email protected].
Wheelchair Access:
The primary wheelchair-accessible entrance is at the corner of the building, accessed via a ramp. This leads into a lobby with automatic doors and a disabled lift that takes visitors down to the Society Room level.
An accessible toilet is located to the left as you exit the lift.
There are also five steps leading to the main entrance with an adjacent ramp for wheelchair users. After entering, a lift provides access to the lower Society Room.
A secondary entrance is located at the bottom of Cumberlow Avenue, marked with "Society Room." This entrance has two steps and leads to a small lobby with access to the Society Room and a single cubicle toilet.
Hearing Assistance:
A hearing assistance system is available in the Society Room. It is connected to a microphone that picks up sounds from the space. Users can follow provided instructions to connect to the system.
