About this Event
In recognition of Autism Acceptance Month, the PR Council of Greater Atlantic City is pleased to welcome Sherri Richmond and Brian Cahill of Shore Medical Center as speakers at our upcoming luncheon event on April 28th. The presentation will highlight how Shore Medical Center is advancing compassionate, inclusive care for neurodiverse members of our community across multiple points of care. Shore Medical Center understands that bright lights, loud sounds, and unfamiliar routines can make healthcare visits overwhelming for neurodiverse patients, which includes autistic community members.
With expert guidance and staff training provided by occupational and speech therapists from the Atlantic County Special Services School District, Shore Medical Center proudly offers three sensory-friendly care programs. In addition to learning about Shore Medical Center’s new programs and sensory friendly rooms, guests will have an opportunity to discuss acceptance as well as an understanding, compassionate approach towards autistic and neurodiverse community members. This is important for all of us to be aware of, whether in a hospital or public setting, for an overall empathetic and knowledgeable community.
Together, Sherri and Brian will discuss Shore Medical Center’s Sensory Care Programs, including initiatives in the Emergency Department, outpatient testing areas, and a new sensory-focused respiratory care program launching this April. At the end of the presentation, you will have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about autism, neurodiverse community members, and the programs offered at Shore Medical Center.
