In 1994, Yuyi Morales left her home in Xalapa, Mexico and came to the United States with her infant son, leaving behind everything she owned. Morales has written many picture books and nonfiction titles for children, including the New York Times bestselling "Dreamers ," the Big Read Lakeshore 2024 book selection.
