About this Event
Join us at Brighton Civic Centre to hear treasured South Australian author Laura Di Martino talk about her newly released historical fiction title, A Shimmering Thread.
Laura Di Martino is a retired Languages and History teacher with a passionate interest in all things culture, travel, food, and creative art. Born in Belgium, of Italian descent, Laura’s writing fuses her background with stories from her adored Adelaide home.
Her current Historical fiction novel, ‘A Shimmering Thread’ (2026), is the story of embroiderer Clementina, daughter of a flax and linen production family from Abruzzo. When her traditional way of life is lost, Clementina takes a chance on coming to Henley Beach in South Australia, hoping that her embroidery skills will allow her to create a new life for herself and support her remaining family in Italy.
