About this Event

God and the DJ. A Book by Gerald McBride.

In God and the DJ, Gerald McBride shares his remarkable journey from spinning records in his brother's nightclub to becoming the voice behind commercials for music legends - and ultimately answering a calling that changed his life. Through success, setbacks, and restored faith, Gerald reveals that true purpose isn't found in fame or fortune, but in obedience to God's voice.

Gerald McBride never imagined his life would take him from spinning records in his brother’s nightclub to becoming the voice behind commercials for music legends like Prince, Luther Vandross, Earth, Wind & Fire, Janet Jackson, and countless other superstars. He certainly never dreamed he’d direct his own feature film, until God spoke and made the impossible inevitable.

In this powerful memoir, Gerald takes you behind the microphone and into the moments that shaped him. From growing up in Motown-era Detroit to becoming a voice heard across the nation, Gerald experienced career highs and devastating lows, failed relationships and restored faith. Through it all, he discovered that success isn’t measured by fame or fortune, but by obedience to the voice that matters most.

Inside the book, you'll discover:

  • How divine appointment can redirect your life
  • The power of faith-filled declarations
  • Why mercy always offers another chance
  • What happens when purpose and calling align

With raw honesty and infectious joy, Gerald shares the conversations with God that sustained him through financial struggles, divorce, and doubt. These conversations ultimately led him to create the faith-based film, The Rhythm, which continues to touch millions of lives.

Gerald McBride has spent over 45 years in broadcasting and production. He is the CEO of Voice Over Productions and host of the nationally syndicated Old School House Party radio show, reaching over 30 markets nationwide.
