The Lee F. Simmons Story Book Launch
America’s First African-American Air Force One Steward
Join author Victor Simmons for the official Coachella Valley launch celebration of his new children’s book, The Lee F. Simmons Story, an inspiring true story of perseverance, service, and American history.
Written for readers ages 6–9, the book shares the remarkable journey of Lee F. Simmons, who rose from humble beginnings in rural Alabama to become America’s first African-American steward on Air Force One, serving Presidents Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, and Ford.
The evening will include:
• Author presentation and storytelling
• Book signing
• Cocktails and light bites
• Opportunity to purchase signed copies onsite
The story includes historic moments such as:
• President Kennedy’s final flight home following the assassination in Dallas
• Lyndon B. Johnson’s swearing-in aboard Air Force One
• The first presidential flights to China and Russia during the Nixon administration
Following his Air Force One service, Lee F. Simmons later relocated to Palm Desert, where many in the Coachella Valley came to know him after being recruited to support President Ford’s office in the desert.
A portion of the evening’s proceeds will support the Boys & Girls Club of the Coachella Valley.
This event is open to the public.
