Join Tommy Dorfman and the Ali Forney Center (AFC) at Glossier Soho to celebrate AFC's founder, Carl Siciliano, and his debut memoir, Making Room. Tommy and Carl will be in conversation, sharing more about the Ali Forney Center's work and this book that tells an untold story about LGBTQ+ history and the movement that compelled New York City to invest millions of dollars in LGBTQ+ youth.
Carl Siciliano is a nationally recognized advocate and provider for homeless LGBTQ youth. In 2002, Siciliano founded the Ali Forney Center (AFC), which has grown to become the nation’s largest and most comprehensive housing program for homeless LGBTQ youth. His work has been featured by NPR, CNN, The Daily Show, and New York magazine. His writing has appeared in HuffPost, The Advocate, and The New York Times.
Tommy Dorfman is an actress, writer, director, and producer known for her work across film, television, and theater. She most recently directed her first feature film, I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST, starring Corey Fogelmanis, Alexandra Daddario, Cole Sprouse, and Lena Dunham. The highly anticipated debut feature premiered at SXSW in March to rave reviews. Next up, she is set to direct the film adaptation of Mariko Tamaki’s graphic novel Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me. Through her lifestyle platform CURRAN and production company DOWN THE LINE, Tommy’s work focuses on telling stories that highlight distinct and diverse queer experiences. After graduating Fordham University in 2015, Tommy booked her first role as on the hit Netflix series, 13 REASONS WHY, for which she received critical acclaim. Tommy has since gone out on to act across different mediums, while also shining a light on her experience as a trans person in Hollywood through her work with GLAAD and the Ali Forney Center. She has spearheaded fashion campaigns focused on bringing queer talent front and center with companies like Coach, Valentino, and Calvin Klein. She lives in New York City.
