Award-winning author Hadil Ghoneim will read from her new book Arabic Folktales for Children, a bilingual collection of eight Arabic folktales retold in both English and Arabic text side by side with vivid illustrations for children. Stories include the beloved folktale character Goha (aka Nasreddin Hodja) and his iconic donkey, a stubborn king bested by an old wise man, and a collared dove saved by her animal friends from the Kalila wa Dimna fables (which originated in the ancient Panchatantra). Drawn from written and oral sources, these stories have survived for many centuries and traveled across continents thanks to the traditions of storytelling and translation that continue to connect people from around the world.Details: https://aadl.org/node/646421
