About this Event

Join us for a webinar tailored to New York State teachers, focusing on the integration of authentic resources in the world language class. As the new NYS Learning Standards for World Languages (2021) prioritize the use of authentic resources, this session will explore their importance and practical implementation strategies.

Why Should I Teach with Authentic Resources?
Authentic resources, unedited and unsimplified texts in print, audio, or visual formats created by and for members of the target culture, serve as invaluable tools for promoting language and culture learning. Highlighted in NYS Learning Standards for World Languages Standard 1, Interpretive Communication, they provide students with real-world examples of language use in cultural contexts, fostering motivation and enhancing linguistic and cultural understanding. With authentic resources, teachers can ensure the timeliness and relevance of the language and culture they impart to their students.
