The Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is hosting virtual information sessions on AusTreat, our new government-industry assurance scheme for pre-border treatment providers.
AusTreat will replace the Offshore Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) Treatment Providers scheme starting from the 2024-25 risk season.
From 1 September 2024 treatments conducted in BMSB target risk countries on high-risk goods manufactured in, or shipped from, target risk countries will be required to be conducted by a treatment provider registered under AusTreat and listed as approved on the list of treatment providers on our website. Treatment providers will need to register to AusTreat prior to the commencement of the season.
We will be holding a virtual information session on AusTreat at 7am AEST (2pm PDT / 5pm EDT) on 26 June 2024. Click ‘reserve a spot’ on this page to receive a free ticket registering your attendance for this session. If you are unable to attend this session, you are also welcome to join our session at 5pm AEST (9am CEST / 3pm SGT/CST/PHT) on 24 June 2024.
The sessions will be held on Microsoft Teams Live, and we will send ticket holders an email containing the link to join the Microsoft Teams Live event for the session they have selected. Please note that while the presented information will be most relevant for treatment providers, attendance at either session is open to all.
The sessions will cover the following topics:
- a general overview of AusTreat and its purpose
- how AusTreat differs from the Offshore BMSB Treatment Providers Scheme
- how to register for AusTreat ahead of the 2024-2025 BMSB risk season and new registration requirements under AusTreat
- requirements for submitting treatment certificates and related information under AusTreat
- compliance enforcement measures under AusTreat.
The sessions will also be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions about AusTreat.
The sessions will not cover seasonal measures for the upcoming 2024-25 BMSB risk season. BMSB seasonal measures will be covered in separate sessions prior to the 2024-25 risk season.
