Armoured knights will display their skill on the ground using swords, spears and pollaxes to determine who will be Australia's first champion! Run by the Canberra School of Arms and Armour (SoAA), the Australian Harnischfechten Championship is the first Historical European Martial Art competition dedicated to armoured fighting in Australia and will be a great opportunity for fighters to meet the wider armoured community.The Champanionship will be held at the Tarago Medieval fair, which is about an hour from Canberra and 2 hours from Sydney. The event will go throughout the day. Competitors will be using a rule set developed by the SoAA which we hope can become a national standard for Harnischfechten fighting in Australia.
For this first Championship the event will be limited to 16 participants to ensure the competition remains a manageable size. Register now to be put on the list!
Combatants who register will receive an email with the ruleset and will include a request to send us an image of their armour from the front and the back to confirm it meets the safety standards. Safety is our top priority with all the weapons used on the day provided by the show runners to make sure they are safe.
Please note that a ticket costs $50 and combatants will be charged once the final competition roster is finalised. A ticket includes your entry as well as an attendant or support staff.
