About this Event
(Austin, TX) The Austin Edible Book Festival returns for literary and culinary hijinks on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 12:30 – 3:00 PM at the Baker Center. This tradition showcases serious fun, as local bibliophiles – that is - ANYONE and EVERYONE is invited to create edible books to share and to compete for prizes and hilarity. Please bring Edible Creations at Noon. Visitors will vote in categories ranging from “most book-like” to “least appetizing.”
The event is free. Donations of shelf-stable food are encouraged; Hope Food Pantry will distribute the food donations.
What's an edible book? It's anything edible, based on a book title, that likely includes a pun. Past festival favorites have included: Crepes of Wrath, Tart of Darkness, and Cavity's Rainbow.
Participants bring edible books to exhibit and consume. Inspired by the International Edible Book Festival, Austin’s event keeps it weird by offering the unique opportunity to literally eat one’s words. All ages are welcome; participants should arrive by noon with their edible book creation.
The Baker Center is located at 3908 Avenue B, Austin, TX 78751. The Cafetorium is at the southwest corner of the building. Only the door to the Cafetorium will be unlocked. For more information, see https://sites.utexas.edu/aebf/ or contact [email protected].
