Experience an evening of Hindustani classical music, North India’s oldest and expressive musical tradition. Centered around the soulful sound of the bansuri flute, (teh ancient Indian bamboo flute) the performance explores the beauty of ragas — melodic frameworks designed to evoke different moods, emotions, and times of day through improvisation and intricate musical dialogue. Accompanied by the rhythmic artistry of the tabla, the concert weaves together melody and percussion with high contrasts going from deeply meditative moods to uplifting rhythmical intensities.About the musicians:
About Aura:
Aura Rascón is a Mexican / Dutch flutist and composer coming from a background in
traverse flute and music pedagogy in Western classical music (BA from the University of Sofia, Bulgaria). Being the first formal disciple from Latinoamerica of Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, she learned formally from him at the Conservatory of Rotterdam (BA & MA), The Netherlands, and traditionally at his Vrindaban Gurukul ashrams in India. She has been privileged to accompany her Guru in concerts in Europe, USA, Latinoamerica and India. She has toured extensively as well with her own projects in Asia, Europe and Latinoamerica and has been featured in National Radio and Television in Mexico, Argentina, France, Bulgaria, The Netherlands, including for official projects of the Embassy of India.
