Discover a staple of the wild apothecary.
August is the season of peak bloom for Yarrow (Achillea millefolium), a plant revered for centuries as a powerhouse of healing. Join us for an immersive, hands-on morning as we transition from the field to the apothecary jar.
In this 90-minute workshop, we will explore:
- Identification & Lore: Learn how to confidently identify native yarrow and hear the ancient stories of its use on the battlefields of old.
- The Edible & Medicinal: Discover the surprising ways to use yarrow in the kitchen and its role as a "first-aid kit in a leaf" for digestive and respiratory support.
- The Craft: Together, we will prepare a soothing herbal oil. You’ll learn the techniques for solar infusion to extract yarrow’s potent anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties—perfect for treating minor cuts, scrapes, and skin irritations.
Whether you are a budding herbalist or simply curious about the plants growing in your own backyard, you will leave with the knowledge and the start of your very own healing oil to take home.
The event is held in the beautiful sensory Victorian Walled Garden - we co-create through the seasons herbal remedies to activate and tonify the senses, mind and body! Explore and learn the medicinal and therapeutic benefits of our native botanicals that are naturally available in the Irish landscape.
