**The next Grotto meeting is August 13 (the second Wednesday of the month) at Spring Creek BBQ from 7-9 PM located at 3514 W airport Fwy Irving TX.****We’ll be discussing upcoming caving and recent past trips. The program will be a presentation by Bill Steele about Floyd Collins. "This year is the 100th anniversary of a tragic fatality in a Kentucky cave. Floyd Collins died in Sand Cave, which 16 years later became part of Mammoth Cave National Park. The incident went on to have songs recorded about it, a Kirk Douglas movie based on it, a radio media event that took place as it happened being studied in journalism courses, a Broadway musical about it, and several books.
Come hear the story from Bill Steele, someone who saw Floyd Collins’ body one time. He’ll be spinning a yarn."**
**There is also an optional social hang out afterwards at The Hangout Sorts Bar with pool tables, drinks and food as Spring Creek will close at 9 pm. It is in the same parking lot and within walking distance.**
**Plan to come and join us, the food is good and the camaraderie is even better. This is the best way to find out about future caving opportunities and to ask questions.**
