The town veterinarian, Dr. Thomas Parker, and his family take in the Bat Boy, which goes well at first. BAT BOY: Male, Age 18 to 20s, Tenor

Also known as Edgar, he is half bat and half human. Having grown up in a cave on the outskirts of Hope Falls, West Virginia, he never learned to speak and only feeds on the blood of other living creatures. After he's discovered by a trio of ruffian siblings, the Bat Boy is taken in by the Parker family and has to navigate the intricacies of living as a human, despite his strange appearance and violent impulses.

MEREDITH PARKER: Female, Age 40s to 50s, Mezzo-Soprano

Mother to Shelley and wife to Thomas, Meredith is the glue holding the Parker family together. She is a respectable suburban mother who has a big heart and strong attachment to downtrodden animals. When the Bat Boy is captured, she can't help but take him in against her better judgment. While her primary goal is family and kindness, she harbors a dark secret that could spell the end of the Parkers' flawless reputations.

DR. THOMAS PARKER: Male, Age 40s to 50s, Tenor

As the only veterinarian in town, Dr. Parker was the obvious choice to turn to after the Bat Boy was discovered. He does his best to please everyone around him, but with a failing marriage, pressure to solve the town's dwindling cattle population, and a feeling that he's the only sane person left in Hope Falls, Dr. Parker is liable to snap at any moment.

SHELLEY PARKER: Female Age 18 to 20s, Soprano

Shelley is the only child of the Parkers and fulfills all the only child stereotypes. She is bratty, selfish, and unnecessarily rebellious. When the Bat Boy comes to town, she's forced to confront her shallow nature and look deeper into what makes a person worthwhile.

SHERIFF REYNOLDS: Male, 30s to 60s, Baritone

He may be a bumbling fool who only cares about getting reelected, but he's the only sheriff Hope Falls has got. Once the Bat Boy is discovered, it falls to Sheriff Reynolds to decide his fate. When cows start dying and the Bat Boy is blaimed, all eyes are on Reynolds to solve the issue.

RICK TAYLOR: Male, 20s, Tenor

Eldest of the three Taylor children, Rick discovers the Bat Boy on a spelunking trip in a nearby cave. He is rash, bold, and a little unhinged. After the Bat Boy attacks his sister Ruthie, Rick wants nothing more than revenge, which causes tension between him and his current fling, Shelley.

RON TAYLOR: Male, 18 to 20s, Baritone

The middle Taylor child, Ron is milder and quieter than his siblings, but doesn't hesitate to get involved in all of their hijinks. He accompanies his siblings on the spelunking trip that results in the Bat Boy's discovery. After Ruthie is attacked, he spends most of his time visiting her at the hospital

RUTHIE TAYLOR: Female, late teen to early 20s, Mezzo-Soprano

The youngest child and only daughter of Mrs. Taylor, Ruthie is a firecracker who has no problem jumping into action when things get hairy. After she is attacked by the Bat Boy during the Taylors' spelunking trip, she falls into a state of shock and is confined to a hospital bed.

MRS. TAYLOR: Male, 30s to 50s, Tenor
(Drag Role; May be double cast as Reverend Billie Hightower)

Matriarch of the Taylor family, she is a true mama bear. She is a prominent figure in the Hope Falls community and does NOT take attacks on her family lightly.

REVEREND BILLIE HIGHTOWER: Male or Female, 30s to 50s, Tenor
(If cast female identifying, this will be a Drag Role; If cast male identifying, this role may be double cast as Mrs. Taylor)

A well-known reverend who is visiting Hope Falls for a revival, his welcome is not as warm as he'd expected. The town's problems with a human-bat hybrid were not what he bargained for.

MAGGIE: Female, 40s to 60s, Alto

The mayor of Hope Falls and leader of the city council, she is a no nonsense businesswoman who won't let her town suffer. She is the leading force behind pressuring Sheriff Reynolds to handle the Bat Boy problem.

BUD: Male, 20s to 40s, Tenor
(Double cast as Pan)

A rancher and often spokesperson for the other ranchers. He is not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he has a passion for Hope Falls and raising cows.

PAN: Male, 20s to 40s, Tenor
(Double cast as Bud)

The Greek satyr-god of nature. He is incredibly sensual and often entices others into love-making.
