WHAT TO EXPECT AUDITIONS:
People need to bring at least 32 bars of music of your choice, please bring hard copies of your music so our accompanist can play. We will vocalize everyone and have a dance audition that will be taught day off. Call backs information will be given at the auditions.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Dancer's who can sing and are preferably human and capable of telling a story/empathy. Being a part of this show is going to be more than being a part of West Side Story, it's going to be telling the story that is as old as time and help show our community that we all have a part to play in making our community a better, more inviting and space to live.
HOW WE WILL CAST:
We will cast 32-38 people. The Jets will be cast as predominantly white or light skinned individuals and the Sharks will be cast as Hispanic and NonHispanic Black or Indigenous people of color. We are highlighting facts, America has a race problem and part of that are people who "pass" and how people can graduate or lose privilege. We will be discussing much of this throughout the course of the show, if you'd like to be involved, and have more questions please email me at [email protected].

SYNOPSIS:
West Side Story is a musical retelling of Romeo and Juliet, set in 1950s New York City, about the fierce rivalry between two teenage gangs, the white Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks, whose conflict is tragically ignited when Tony (a former Jet) falls in love with Maria (the sister of the Sharks' leader, Bernardo) at a dance, leading to escalating violence and a fatal "rumble" that results in Tony's death, underscoring themes of love, prejudice, and gang violence.
